Where your NISM certificate comes from

NISM issues certificates electronically. There is no paper certificate posted to your home; instead, after you pass the exam the certificate is generated and placed in your candidate account on the official portal at certifications.nism.ac.in. This is the same account you used to register and book your exam slot, so you do not need to create anything new. Because the process is digital, the certificate is easy to store, re-download and share whenever an employer or regulator asks for proof.

Downloading your certificate step by step

  1. Log in to your account at certifications.nism.ac.in using your registered email/user ID and password.
  2. Open the section that lists your enrolments or results (often labelled 'My Certifications' or 'Certificate').
  3. Confirm your result status shows as Pass for the relevant series.
  4. Select the download or view option against that certification.
  5. Save the PDF and, if you wish, print a copy for your records.

The certificate is usually available a short while after the result is declared rather than the very instant you leave the test centre, so if it is not visible immediately, check back after the result is formally published.

What the certificate contains

A NISM certificate is a formal document, and it carries the details an employer needs to trust it:

  • Your full name as registered (which should match your PAN).
  • The exact certification series you passed, for example Series V-A: Mutual Fund Distributors or Series VIII: Equity Derivatives.
  • A unique NISM registration or certificate number.
  • The date of certification and the expiry date.

Verifying that a certificate is genuine

NISM provides an online verification facility on its website so that anyone can confirm a certificate is real. The general approach is:

  1. Go to the NISM certifications website and open the certificate verification page.
  2. Enter the certificate/registration number along with the requested candidate details.
  3. The system returns the matching record, confirming the name, series and validity.

This means a NISM certification cannot easily be faked — a mismatch between a printed PDF and the online record is an immediate red flag. Always verify against the official portal rather than relying on a forwarded image alone.

How employers verify a candidate

For SEBI-regulated roles, an employer must ensure associated persons hold the correct, in-date certification. During onboarding an employer will typically ask for your certificate number and then confirm it through the NISM verification facility. Common issues and fixes

Certificate not showing after a pass

Give it a little time after the result is declared, then log in again. If it still does not appear, contact NISM support with your enrolment details.

Name spelt incorrectly

Because the certificate should match your PAN, raise any spelling correction with NISM promptly — an employer verification works best when the name is exact.

Expired certificate
