IBBI Limited Insolvency Examination Syllabus and Weightage
Eight subject areas, but case studies alone carry 70 of the 100 marks. Here's IBBI's full list, weight by weight.
IBBI publishes one syllabus for the Limited Insolvency Examination, dated 4 February 2025. It splits the paper into eight subject areas, each with a fixed weight. The first seven are tested through 30 one-mark questions. The eighth, case studies, is tested through 35 two-mark questions and carries 70 of the 100 marks.
One rule governs every law on the list: IBBI tests each Act, rule and regulation as it stood on 4 February 2025. Any amendment made after that date is ignored in the exam, even if it is already in force when you sit.

Read the Weights Carefully
The Code itself is only 4 marks and its regulations 6, yet almost every case study is a CIRP, liquidation, pre-pack or individual insolvency scenario. The Code and regulations are therefore tested far more than their headline weight suggests, through the 70 case-study marks.
Section 8: The Six Case Studies (70 Marks)
Each case study is a narrative followed by a set of questions on it. IBBI fixes how many questions each one carries.
