SBI PO runs one recruitment cycle a year, opened by a notification on SBI's careers site. The 2025 cycle's notification arrived on 26 December 2024 with an application window from 27 December 2024 to 16 January 2025, prelims in early August 2025 and mains on 13 September 2025. If you missed a window, the next one is a year away, which is why the calendar matters as much as the syllabus.

How to Apply for SBI PO

Check eligibility and read the notification
Confirm you hold, or will hold, a bachelor's degree in any stream and are 21-30 years old with applicable relaxations. The notification on sbi.co.in (bank.sbi careers page) is the governing document for every rule.

Register and fill the online application
Register on the SBI portal, fill personal and academic details, and upload your photo, signature, thumb impression and a handwritten declaration in the prescribed formats.

Pay the application fee
₹750 for General/OBC/EWS candidates; nil for SC/ST/PwD. Pay online within the window; the application is not complete until the fee clears.

Download the admit card and sit prelims
The 1-hour, 100-mark online prelims screens candidates for mains. Roughly 10 times the vacancy count clears to the next stage.

Clear mains and Phase III
Mains is the 200-mark objective test plus the 30-mark descriptive paper. Shortlisted candidates then attend the psychometric test, group exercise and interview.

Final merit, document verification and joining
Final selection combines mains and Phase III scores 75:25. Selected candidates complete document verification and medicals before joining as Probationary Officers.
