NISM Series V-A Registration & Exam Dates
There is no annual Series V-A exam date. Registration is continuous and you pick your own slot. Here is how it works.
There is no NISM Series V-A exam date. That is not an omission on this page: NISM certification exams run on demand, all year round. You register, pay, choose a test centre and pick a slot from the ones available, and you sit the exam on the day you selected. There is no annual notification to wait for, no application window that closes, and no shared results date.
So the real question behind "when is the V-A exam" is usually "how soon can I sit it?" The answer is as soon as there is a free slot at a centre near you, which in most cities is within a week or two.
How to register
The whole process runs through NISM's own certification portal:
- 1
Create an account on the NISM certifications portal
One account covers every NISM certification, so if you later take Series XV or X-A you register through the same login.
- 2
Select Series V-A: Mutual Fund Distributors
Check you are choosing V-A and not V-B (Mutual Fund Foundation) or V-C (the CPE route). They are different certifications with different scope and different fees.
- 3
Choose your test centre and slot
Availability drives the date. Metro centres typically have slots within days; smaller centres can run a couple of weeks out, so book earlier if you are travelling to one.
- 4
Pay the fee
₹1,500 plus applicable GST, paid online at the time of booking. The fee is per attempt.
- 5
Sit the exam and get your result on screen
The result is displayed on submission. There is no separate results date to track.

What happens at the 3-year mark
Series V-A is valid for 3 years. To stay certified you either sit the exam again, or complete the CPE (Continuing Professional Education) programme, 10 CPE credit hours, before your certificate lapses. The CPE route is a single day rather than a re-examination, which is why most distributors take it. Plan it before expiry: letting the certificate lapse means going back to the full exam.
V-A is not the same as your ARN
Passing V-A is a prerequisite for an ARN (AMFI Registration Number), not the ARN itself. After you pass, you apply to AMFI separately, complete KYD formalities, and pay AMFI's own registration fee. Budget for both steps: candidates regularly plan for the ₹1,500 exam fee alone and are surprised by the AMFI stage.
