When the Eligibility Test Runs
The ET comes before the AT, and ICAI's two course documents describe its timing differently:
- check_circleThe physical-batch document says it is generally the second Saturday of February, May, August or November.
- check_circleThe virtual-batch document says it is generally the second Saturday of May or November.
- check_circleEither way, you need an ET pass before the AT application window opens, so plan the two together.
How to Plan Around the Dates
- 1
Work back from the AT
Find the next announced AT and its application window on icai.org (Examination > Members).
- 2
Make sure the ET is behind you
Only members who have qualified the Eligibility Test can apply, so an ET still pending means aiming for a later AT.
- 3
Apply early in the window
The November 2026 window is two weeks long. Applying early leaves time to fix payment or profile problems.
- 4
Budget for the gap if you miss
Recent sittings were three to five months apart, so a missed AT usually means a long wait.
