IBPS RRB Syllabus: All Five Sections, Both Cadres
Five sections, a language choice, and a rural-banking slant the other bank exams lack. The full map.
The IBPS RRB syllabus spans five sections: Reasoning Ability, Quantitative/Numerical Ability, General Awareness, a language section you choose as English or Hindi, and Computer Knowledge. Prelims for Office Assistant and Officer Scale I tests only the first two; the mains adds the other three.
Three things make this syllabus different from IBPS PO or Clerk: candidates pick Hindi or English for the language section, computer knowledge is a scored section rather than a topic folded into reasoning, and general awareness leans noticeably toward rural banking, RRBs and NABARD. Material recycled from PO preparation misses all three.

Pick Your Language Section Early
The English-or-Hindi choice changes months of preparation, and switching late wastes the practice already banked. Decide within the first weeks by attempting timed sets in both and keeping the one with the higher net score. Comfort in conversation and speed in an exam section are different skills.
IBPS RRB Syllabus FAQs
What are the subjects in the IBPS RRB syllabus?expand_more
Five sections: Reasoning Ability, Quantitative/Numerical Ability, General Awareness, English or Hindi Language (candidate's choice), and Computer Knowledge. Prelims tests reasoning and quant only; mains tests all five.
Can I choose Hindi instead of English in IBPS RRB?expand_more
Yes. The mains language section is offered as English or Hindi and the candidate picks one. The Hindi track covers grammar, comprehension, fill in the blanks, sentence improvement and error detection.
Is the syllabus different for Office Assistant and Officer Scale I?expand_more
The section structure is the same five areas, with Scale I's quant section framed as Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation and its difficulty pitched higher. Scale II and III add Financial Awareness in place of General Awareness in their single exam.
Does IBPS RRB general awareness differ from IBPS PO's?expand_more
The scope overlaps, but RRB's GA leans toward rural banking: Regional Rural Banks, NABARD, priority-sector themes and government schemes feature more heavily. Prepare with RRB-focused material rather than a generic PO capsule alone.
