IIBF Treasury Manager: Career Value and Salary
No settlement increment, unlike JAIIB or CAIIB. What this credential does for a treasury career instead.
The IIBF Certified Treasury Manager (CTP) certificate does not carry an automatic salary increment. JAIIB and CAIIB earn increments under IBA settlements; CTP earns nothing automatically. Its value is different in kind: it is a specialist credential for treasury, one of banking's better-paid corners, with a practical mock-dealing component behind it.
So the money question splits in two. What does the certificate itself pay? Nothing, directly. What do the roles it points at pay? Considerably more than generalist banking. Both halves below.

Read Those Ranges as Role Salaries, Not Certificate Outcomes
Nobody is paid ₹10-25 LPA for holding a certificate. Those are indicative ranges for the treasury roles themselves, which are won on postings, interviews and track record. CTP strengthens a candidacy for them; it does not constitute one.
Worth it or not, the questions are the same. See them first.
No Increment, and Why That Is Not the Whole Story
Under IBA settlements, a clerk who passes JAIIB gets one increment and CAIIB adds two more; officers earn increments on completing each. CTP sits outside that machinery entirely. If a guaranteed pay bump is the goal, JAIIB and CAIIB are the instruments built for it.
What CTP offers instead is positioning. Treasury postings are scarce relative to branch roles, and they select for demonstrated interest and demonstrated competence. A credential whose final stage is live mock dealing in forex and bonds, assessed, is direct evidence of both. That is the trade: no automatic rupee, better odds at a desk where the rupees are larger.
Who Gets the Most Out of CTP
- check_circleBankers targeting a move into treasury, ALM or the dealing room, where the credential signals readiness for a specialist posting.
- check_circleFront, mid and back office treasury staff formalising on-the-job knowledge into a recognised qualification.
- check_circleFinance professionals outside banks: eligibility is open to non-members, and treasury skills travel across NBFCs and corporates.
- check_circleCAIIB holders who chose or skipped the risk-flavoured electives and want depth in dealing mathematics and market practice.
FAQs
Does the CTP certificate increase salary automatically?expand_more
No. CTP carries no automatic increment under IBA settlements, unlike JAIIB and CAIIB. Its career value is as a specialist treasury credential that strengthens candidacy for treasury, dealing and ALM roles.
What can a treasury manager earn in India?expand_more
Indicative ranges for the roles CTP targets: treasury manager ₹10-25 LPA, treasury dealer ₹8-20 LPA, ALM or risk manager ₹9-22 LPA, and investment or portfolio officer ₹7-16 LPA. These are role salaries, set by employer and experience, not amounts the certificate itself confers.
Is CTP worth it without a banking job?expand_more
It can be. Eligibility is open to non-members and does not require bank employment, and the syllabus (markets, fixed income, forex, derivatives) applies across NBFCs and corporate treasury. The credential's strongest recognition, though, is inside banking.
Should I do CAIIB or CTP for a treasury career?expand_more
They do different jobs. CAIIB is the broad advanced banking qualification and carries increments; CTP is treasury-specific, with assessed mock dealing, and carries none. Bankers often hold both, using CAIIB for progression and CTP for the specialisation.
