IIBF Treasury Manager Eligibility and Registration
Open to anyone past 12th standard, banker or not. Who qualifies and how the half-yearly cycle works.
Eligibility for the IIBF Certified Treasury Manager (CTP) exam is deliberately open: anyone who has passed 12th standard in any discipline can register. There is no age limit, IIBF membership is not required, and neither is a bank job. The certification is aimed at treasury and finance professionals, but the door is not restricted to them.
Registration is the part with actual mechanics: it happens online, per attempt, against a half-yearly exam cycle. Both halves of the question are answered below.

Who Can Take CTP
- check_circleEducational qualification: passed 12th standard (any discipline) or equivalent.
- check_circleAge: no prescribed age limit.
- check_circleMembership: open to both members and non-members of IIBF.
- check_circleEmployment: no bank employment requirement. The exam targets treasury and finance professionals, including dealers, front, mid and back office staff, and investment officers, but does not require you to already be one.
No JAIIB Prerequisite
Unlike CAIIB, which requires a JAIIB pass first, CTP has no prior-certification prerequisite. A 12th-standard pass is the entire educational gate.

How to Register
The path from decision to booked exam:
- 1
Create or log in to your IIBF profile
Registration happens on iibf.org.in, as a member or a non-member. Each attempt requires its own separate registration.
- 2
Enrol for the Certified Treasury Professional exam
Select the exam and pay the fee: ₹6,000 plus GST in virtual mode. You can optionally add e-learning material at this step.
- 3
Wait for the exam window
CTP runs on a half-yearly cycle, on pre-announced dates published on IIBF's website. The registration window opens before each cycle.
- 4
Sit the online Treasury Operations paper
100 MCQs including case-based questions, 2 hours, remote-proctored, in English, with a pass mark of 50 out of 100.
- 5
Book classroom training after passing
Training slots are booked online after clearing the online exam. The 3-day training, with its 25/50 internal assessment, completes the certification.
Half-Yearly Means the Calendar Matters
Many IIBF certificate exams run twice a month. CTP does not: it is held on a half-yearly basis on pre-announced dates. Missing a registration window means waiting for the next cycle, so check IIBF's published schedule before you plan a preparation timeline around it. Dates are set by IIBF and can change between cycles; confirm the latest on iibf.org.in.
Who This Exam Actually Suits
The open eligibility is real, but the paper assumes comfort with financial arithmetic: bond prices, yields, forward rates. Working bankers heading for a treasury posting are the core audience. Finance professionals outside banking register too, because the credential is not gated on bank employment.
If you are choosing between IIBF certificates rather than committed to treasury, the career and salary page lays out what CTP does and does not change, including its lack of a settlement increment.
