A SEBI Grade A cycle moves quickly once it opens. In the 2024 cycle the notification came in April, the application window ran just 13 to 30 April, Phase 1 followed on 27 July, Phase 2 on 31 August, and the final result arrived on 3 January 2025.
Two practical lessons sit in those dates. The application window was about two and a half weeks, short enough to miss if you rely on hearing about it late. And the notification-to-Phase-1 gap was around three months, which is nowhere near enough to build Paper 2 depth from zero.

How to Apply, Step by Step

Apply online
Register on sebi.gov.in during the application window, upload documents, pay the fee (₹1,000 General; ₹100 SC/ST/PwBD) and select your stream. The stream choice is final for the cycle.

Clear Phase 1
Sit both objective papers, Paper 1 common and Paper 2 stream-specific, clearing sectional and aggregate cut-offs. Phase 1 is qualifying only.

Clear Phase 2
Attempt Paper 1 (descriptive English, 100 marks) and Paper 2 (stream-specific, 100 marks). Paper 1 carries one-third weight, Paper 2 two-thirds.

Attend the interview
Shortlisted candidates face a personal interview worth 15% of final selection; Legal and Engineering candidates may earn small experience-based bonus marks.

Final merit list
Ranking is Phase 2 at 85% plus interview at 15%, prepared stream-wise and category-wise.
