SEBI Grade A Syllabus: Paper 1 and Paper 2
Two papers per phase, and one of them does the selecting. Here is everything each paper covers.
The SEBI Grade A syllabus splits across two papers in each phase. Paper 1 is common to every stream and covers General Awareness (including the securities market), English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. Paper 2 is stream-specific; for the General stream it spans Commerce, Accountancy, Management, Finance, Costing, Companies Act and Economics.
Weightage should shape how you read this list. In Phase 2, Paper 2 carries two-thirds of the weight against Paper 1's one-third, so the stream subjects below deserve most of your preparation hours. This page lists what each paper covers; the pattern page covers marks and merit.

How the Same Syllabus Appears in Both Phases
Phase 1 and Phase 2 do not have separate topic lists; they test the same subjects at different depth and format. Phase 1's Paper 2 is a 50-question objective screen. Phase 2's Paper 2 goes deeper into the same subjects, and Phase 2's Paper 1 turns the English section descriptive: essay, precis and comprehension, typed. Prepare the subjects once, to Phase 2 depth, and Phase 1 largely takes care of itself.
Specialist Streams Have Their Own Paper 2
Legal, IT, Research, Official Language and Engineering candidates sit a Paper 2 in their own discipline instead of the General list above. The Paper 1 syllabus is identical for everyone. Stream-wise details are on the streams page and in SEBI's notification.
