IBBI Limited Insolvency Exam Eligibility and Registration
IBBI sets no entry bar for the exam itself. The bar comes later, when you register as an insolvency professional.
IBBI does not publish any minimum age, degree or experience requirement for sitting the Limited Insolvency Examination. The registration portal asks for your email, identity details, a photograph and your PAN card, and nothing about your qualifications.
The qualifications come later. Passing the exam is one of three conditions for registering as an insolvency professional under regulation 5 of the IBBI (Insolvency Professionals) Regulations, 2016. IBBI's own FAQ tells candidates to check they meet those conditions, or the conditions of the job that needs the pass, before taking the exam.

Who Can Register as an IP After Passing
Regulation 5(c) requires one of these, on top of the exam pass and the pre-registration course.

Download your admit card
It appears under the Candidate Dashboard once the payment goes through.
- 4
Stage 3: Sit the exam
Reach the centre 30 minutes early with the printed admit card and an original PAN card, Aadhaar card or passport.
- 5
If you don't pass
Repeat stages 2 and 3. The payment link reopens 24 hours after your earlier slot, and the next attempt must be at least 21 days after the last.
Your Certificate Uses Your Registration Details
IBBI prints the pass certificate from the details you enter when you register. Correcting it later means returning the original certificate with a notarised affidavit, so check your name and details carefully at stage 1.

IBBI Exam Eligibility: Common Questions
Who is eligible for the IBBI Limited Insolvency Examination?expand_more
IBBI sets no published age, degree or experience requirement for taking the exam. The requirements in regulation 5 apply when you register as an insolvency professional after passing.
Can a CA, CS or CMA student take the exam?expand_more
Nothing in IBBI's rules stops you sitting it. But registering as an IP needs 10 years as a qualified member (or another regulation 5 route), and the pass must be used within 24 months, so an early pass will usually lapse.
What documents do I need to register?expand_more
An email address, your identity details, a photograph and your PAN card. On exam day, bring the admit card and an original PAN card, Aadhaar card or passport.
Is there a registration fee?expand_more
No. Registration on the portal is free. You pay the exam fee of ₹5,900 (₹5,000 plus GST) each time you book an attempt.
Check Before You Apply
IBBI revises the fee, syllabus and exam rules from time to time and announces each change on its Limited Insolvency Examination page. Confirm the latest there before you book or pay.
