Repo Rate
The interest rate at which the RBI lends short-term funds to commercial banks against government securities.
Repo (repurchase) rate is the rate at which the Reserve Bank of India lends money to commercial banks for the short term against collateral like government securities. Raising it makes borrowing costlier and helps curb inflation; lowering it makes credit cheaper to spur growth. It is a key tool of monetary policy.
