CAIIB Exam Dates and Registration Windows
IIBF sets the exact dates per cycle. The rhythm behind them never changes, and you can plan against it today.
CAIIB is conducted twice a year. One cycle has its exams in May-June with registration opening around February-March; the other has exams in November-December with registration around August-September. Results follow each paper typically within a few weeks.
IIBF fixes and publishes the exact dates for each cycle, so this page will not hand you a calendar date it cannot verify. What it does give you is the pattern those dates always follow, which is enough to plan an attempt around, plus where to check the live schedule before you commit to anything.

How the Twice-a-Year Rhythm Works
Registration opens roughly three months ahead of the exams in each cycle. Once the window closes, the next chance to enter the exam is the following cycle, which is about six months away. That gap is the single most important number on this page: miss a window and you lose half a year, not a fortnight.
Within a cycle, the five papers are sat as online computer-based tests on scheduled dates. You are not required to sit all five in one cycle, and most working bankers do not. Papers can be spread across sessions inside your attempt block, which turns the cycle calendar into a sequencing decision rather than a single deadline.
Why Your Enrolment Date Matters More Than Any Exam Date
CAIIB gives you up to 5 attempts within a 3-year block, and cleared papers carry forward inside that block. The clock starts when you enrol, not when you first sit a paper, so the cycle you register in sets the deadline you are working against for all five papers.
Three years spans roughly six exam cycles. Planning two or three papers per cycle leaves genuine buffer for a failed paper near the end of the block. Registering and then skipping the first cycle spends a chunk of the block on nothing.
Start before the window opens, not after.
What to Fix in Your Calendar
Four dates matter, and only one of them is the exam.
- check_circleThe registration window for your target cycle: around February-March for May-June exams, around August-September for November-December exams.
- check_circleYour paper dates within the cycle, as scheduled by IIBF once registration is complete.
- check_circleThe result date for each paper, typically a few weeks after you sit it, which decides whether the next cycle is a re-attempt or a fresh paper.
- check_circleThe end of your 5-attempt, 3-year block, counted from enrolment.
How to Confirm the Current Cycle's Dates
The authoritative source is IIBF, and only IIBF. This is the order to check it in.
- 1
Open the CAIIB page on iibf.org.in
IIBF publishes the examination notice for each cycle there, carrying the registration window, the exam dates and the fee for that block.
- 2
Read the notice for your cycle, not last cycle's
Notices stay online after a cycle closes. Check which cycle a notice refers to before you plan around its dates.
- 3
Register inside the window and note your paper dates
Paper dates are issued through the IIBF portal after registration. They are per candidate and per paper, so take them from your own admit details rather than from a summary elsewhere.
- 4
Check your bank's internal circulars too
IIBF member banks usually circulate the registration window internally, and some run reimbursement or nomination processes with their own earlier cut-off.
This Page Carries the Rhythm, Not a Confirmed Date
The months above are the usual cycle pattern, not fixed dates. IIBF sets and publishes the exact registration and examination dates for each cycle, and they do move. Confirm the live schedule on iibf.org.in before booking leave, planning study weeks or assuming a deadline.
Planning Preparation Backwards from a Cycle
Each paper is 100 questions for 100 marks in 2 hours, with no negative marking, and a pass needs 50 out of 100. Working backwards from an exam held in May-June, the registration window in February-March is roughly where serious preparation should already be underway rather than where it starts.
The useful test of readiness is a full timed paper rather than a sense of having read enough. If a timed attempt lands well short with the window still open, the cycle after this one is a better target than a spent attempt.
FAQs
How often is the CAIIB exam conducted?expand_more
Twice a year. One cycle holds its exams in May-June and the other in November-December. IIBF publishes the exact dates for each cycle.
When does CAIIB registration open?expand_more
Around February-March for the May-June exam cycle, and around August-September for the November-December cycle. The precise window is announced by IIBF ahead of each cycle on iibf.org.in.
How long do CAIIB results take?expand_more
Results are typically declared within a few weeks of each paper. Because papers can be sat across sessions, each paper's result follows that paper rather than the whole cycle.
Do I have to sit all five CAIIB papers in one cycle?expand_more
No. Papers can be spread across sessions within your 5-attempt, 3-year block, and any paper you clear carries forward inside that block.
Where are the official CAIIB exam dates published?expand_more
On the IIBF website, iibf.org.in, in the examination notice for each cycle. Candidate paper dates are issued through the IIBF portal after registration.
