JAIIB Exam Dates: The Cycle, Not a Calendar
Two cycles a year, with registration opening months ahead. Here's the rhythm and where IIBF confirms it.
JAIIB does not have one exam date. IIBF runs it twice a year, in two cycles, and within each cycle the four papers are scheduled across a window rather than on a single day. So the useful question is not "what is the JAIIB exam date" but "which cycle am I aiming at, and when does its window open".
This page sets out the rhythm IIBF has followed: the two cycles, roughly when registration opens ahead of each one, how long results take afterwards, and what attempt clock runs across cycles. It does not state a date for any given cycle, because IIBF announces those itself and has revised them after announcing them. Where to read the live dates is covered at the end.

JAIIB exam schedule at a glance
The four timing facts that describe the exam, as currently reported. Read every entry as a recurring pattern, not a calendar.
| Event | Currently reported timing |
|---|---|
| Exam cycle 1 | Registration ~Feb–Mar; exams held May–June |
| Exam cycle 2 | Registration ~Aug–Sep; exams held Nov–Dec |
| Frequency | Conducted twice a year (May/June and Nov/Dec) |
| Result declaration | Typically within a few weeks of each paper |
How often is the JAIIB exam held?
Twice a year. One cycle sits around May and June, the other around November and December. That is the single most important fact for planning: if you miss a window, the next opportunity is roughly six months away, not a few weeks.
Within a cycle, the four papers (IE&IFS, PPB, AFM and RBWM) are each a separate 120-minute online session. They are not sat back to back in one morning, and you are not obliged to attempt all four in the same cycle. Papers you clear carry forward, so a common pattern is two papers in one cycle and two in the next.
When does registration open relative to the exam?
Registration runs roughly two to three months ahead of the papers. For the May and June sitting, the window has typically opened around February and March. For the November and December sitting, around August and September.
The window is finite. IIBF's portal accepts applications only while it is open, and there is no rolling registration in between. Practically, that means the date you should be watching for is not the exam date at all. It is the day the window opens, because that is the one you can miss permanently.
The mechanics of applying, what to have ready and what the fee covers are on the registration page.
The window is a date. The workload isn't.
The timeline of one JAIIB cycle
Four stages, in order, with the currently reported timing for each. Every stage is a window rather than a day.
- 1
Registration window opens
Roughly February to March for the May and June cycle, and August to September for the November and December cycle. IIBF publishes the exact opening and closing dates when it announces the window.
- 2
Admit card is released
Closer to the exam window, IIBF makes the admit card available for download from the same portal login you registered with. You check for it yourself, it does not generally arrive by post. Verify your name, photo, centre and chosen language against it while there is still time to raise a correction.
- 3
Papers are sat
May and June, or November and December. Each of the four papers is a separate online computer-based session of 100 questions in 120 minutes, English or Hindi, with no negative marking.
- 4
Results are declared
Typically within a few weeks of each paper. Because papers are scored individually, a result for one paper can land while you are still to sit another.
How long do JAIIB results take?
Typically a few weeks after each paper. Results are per paper, not per cycle: each of the four is passed or not on its own, at 50% in that paper, or 45% in every paper alongside 200 out of 400 across all four in the same sitting.
For anyone taking JAIIB for the increment, the result date is the date that matters rather than the exam date, since the increment follows qualification rather than the sitting. How that works is on the salary and increment page.
The clock that runs across cycles
JAIIB has a second kind of date, one that belongs to you rather than to the calendar. It is the reason to plan all four papers as one block rather than one cycle at a time.
- The attempt block
- Registration buys a block of attempts rather than one sitting: up to 5 attempts within a 3-year block, as currently reported, with the block starting from your first attempt. Because the block spans cycles rather than one sitting, plan the four papers across it rather than treating each cycle as a fresh start.
- Carry-forward of cleared papers
- A paper you have passed stays passed for the rest of the block. You only re-attempt what is outstanding, which is what makes splitting the four papers across two cycles a workable plan rather than a risk.
- Lapse
- Once the attempts or the years run out, credits for cleared papers lapse and you re-enrol from the beginning. This is the practical deadline behind the cycle dates.
Where to confirm this cycle's actual dates
Four checks, in the order that saves the most time.
- checkThe IIBF website is the authoritative source. Registration windows, exam dates and any postponement are announced there first.
- checkYour IIBF portal login, which is where the admit card appears and where your registered language and centre are recorded.
- checkYour bank's internal circulars, if you are employed at an IIBF member bank. Many circulate the window internally when it opens.
- checkTreat forum posts, coaching pages and social media date claims as unconfirmed until you have seen the same date on IIBF.
Don't wait for the date to start
The registration window is a date. Your preparation is not. Four papers of 100 questions each is the same workload whichever cycle you enter, and the candidates who clear in fewer attempts are generally the ones who were already studying when the window opened.
JAIIB exam date questions, answered
When is the JAIIB exam held?expand_more
JAIIB is conducted twice a year by IIBF, with exams held in May and June for the first cycle and in November and December for the second. IIBF announces the specific dates for each cycle on its website; they are not fixed year to year.
When does JAIIB registration open?expand_more
Registration typically opens around February and March for the May and June cycle, and around August and September for the November and December cycle. The exact opening and closing dates are announced by IIBF ahead of each window.
How many times a year can I attempt JAIIB?expand_more
There are two exam cycles a year. Across those cycles you get up to 5 attempts within a 3-year block, as currently reported, and papers you have already cleared carry forward within that block.
How long after the exam are JAIIB results declared?expand_more
Typically within a few weeks of each paper. Results are declared per paper rather than for the cycle as a whole, so one paper's result can arrive before you have sat the others.
Do I have to sit all four JAIIB papers in the same cycle?expand_more
No. The four papers can be spread across sittings within your attempt block, and a paper you pass carries forward. Sitting all four together matters only if you are using the aggregate route to pass, which requires 45% in every paper plus 200 out of 400 across all four in the same sitting.
Where are the official JAIIB exam dates published?expand_more
On the IIBF website and in your IIBF portal login. IIBF has postponed an announced JAIIB window in the past, so a date should be confirmed there before you act on it, whatever any other source says.
