III IC-01 Study Material: What to Use
One official book, in English and Hindi, as print, eBook or audio. Here is how to get it and how to use it.
The official IC-01 study material is III's own study course, Principles of Insurance, Revised Edition 2024. It comes in English and Hindi, as a printed book for ₹350, an eBook for ₹150 plus GST, or an audiobook for ₹100 plus GST.
III describes its courses as self-learning study: there are no compulsory classes, and the book is the spine of your preparation. But III is also clear that the book is not the whole exam, which shapes how you should use it.

Dispatch status appears under Study Material > Study Material Dispatch Status. Books once dispatched cannot be returned or replaced.
The Book Is the Core, Not the Boundary
III's handbook calls its syllabus "indicative and not exhaustive", says questions "will not necessarily be asked from the study courses only", and expects candidates to read other books and magazines and follow developments in the industry. Read the book thoroughly, then widen out.

Print, eBook or Audio?

What Else Helps
III does not recommend any particular outside book for IC-01, and no guide replaces its study course. What III does suggest is reading: insurance journals and magazines, and keeping up with the industry. Its own quarterly Journal of the Insurance Institute of India and the IRDAI website are sound places to start.
Many Associated Institutes run oral tuition classes for III exams, usually after office hours or at weekends; you need to be a member of that institute to join them. III's own E-Learning facility was discontinued on 1 January 2021.
Reading Is Not Recall
Finishing the book tells you what you have read, not what you can answer under time pressure. After your first full read, switch to questions: they show which principles you can apply and which you can only name.
