SSC MTS Exam Pattern: How the Two Sessions Work
Two 45-minute sessions in one day, and not a single mark deducted for a wrong answer.
SSC MTS runs both its sessions on the same day: 45 minutes of Maths and Reasoning, then 45 minutes of General Awareness and language. Ninety questions in total, objective throughout, and, unusually for an SSC exam, not one mark deducted for a wrong answer.
That last rule is the pattern's headline. It rewrites attempt strategy completely, and candidates who bring negative-marking caution from other exams leave marks on the table here.

No Negative Marking Means Attempt All 90
With nothing deducted for a wrong answer, an unattempted question is the only guaranteed zero. Answer every question in both sessions; where you're unsure, eliminate what you can and mark the most likely option. You have nothing to lose.
What Happens After the CBT

- check_circleFor Havaldar posts (CBIC and CBN), a Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Standard Test follow as a qualifying round.
- check_circleSession timing is fixed at 45 minutes each; there is no borrowing time across sessions.
