IIBF International Trade Finance Exam Pattern and Passing Marks
120 questions, 2 hours, 60 marks to pass, from your own desk. Only one candidate in four cleared it last year.
The IIBF International Trade Finance exam is one online paper: 120 multiple-choice questions for 100 marks, two hours, no negative marking, and 60 marks to pass. There is no second stage, no interview and no classroom training requirement.
It is remote-proctored: you take it from a room of your choice on your own desktop or laptop while a proctor watches over webcam. This page covers how the paper is scored, what the proctoring rules mean for you, and the setup you need. For what the questions cover, see the syllabus page.

Only One in Four Passed in 2024-25
IIBF's Annual Report 2024-25 shows 4,081 candidates appeared for this exam and 1,026 passed, a pass rate of 25.14%. The year before it was 31.87%. That was the lowest pass rate of the 13 exams in the report's remote-proctored table.
120 Questions for 100 Marks
The paper has more questions than marks. IIBF does not publish how marks are spread across questions, so don't plan around a per-question value: plan around answering all 120.
With no negative marking, a blank and a wrong answer both score zero. Answer every question, and flag the long case-study ones to come back to rather than letting one scenario eat five minutes.

How the Remote-Proctored Exam Runs
From IIBF's Rules & Syllabus 2026.
- 1
Log in 30 minutes early
IIBF asks candidates to log in half an hour before the start time.
- 2
Identity check
The proctor matches your face to your registered photo and asks you to show an original photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence, voter ID, passport or employer ID).
- 3
Room scan
You may be asked for a 360° webcam view of the room. The desk must be clear: no books, notes, phones or headsets.
- 4
Live monitoring
Your webcam, microphone, screen, browser, mouse and keyboard are monitored for the whole exam. The proctor can message, warn or stop the test.
- 5
Submit and see your score
A provisional scorecard appears on screen when you submit. Once submitted, even by mistake, there is no re-examination.

120 questions in 120 minutes is one minute per question, and the syllabus is full of case-study topics: UCP 600 discrepancies, URC and URDG scenarios, Incoterms 2020 cases. Practise under a timer so the long questions don't crowd out the short ones.
