IIBF International Trade Finance Study Material
One official book, the ICC rules themselves, and a few IIBF publications. Here's what's worth your time.
IIBF's official study material for this exam is one book: International Trade Finance (2025 edition), published by Taxmann Publications. It is the courseware IIBF developed to cover the syllabus, and the natural place to start.
IIBF itself says the book should not be your only source. Trade finance rules change, and the exam asks about recent developments, so the book works best alongside the ICC rule texts and current RBI directions.

Watch the Cut-Off Date
IIBF only asks about developments up to a cut-off: 31 December 2025 for exams from March to August 2026, and 30 June 2026 for exams from September 2026 to February 2027. When a source and the book disagree, check which side of the cut-off the change falls.
How to Use the Material
- 1
Read the book once, end to end
Get the map of the syllabus before going deep on anything.
- 2
Go to the rule text for the ICC topics
Read UCP 600 and ISBP (ISBP 821 is current; the syllabus names 745) alongside the book's chapters. Case-study questions test the articles, not a summary of them.
- 3
Make one page per rulebook
Presentation periods, examination time, insurance cover, tolerances, who bears which risk under each Incoterm. These are where options look alike.
- 4
Switch to practice early
Reading is not retrieval. Timed questions show what you actually remember.
