III IC-01 Eligibility and Registration
10th pass is enough. Here is the three-step route: register as a member, enrol for IC-01, then book your slot.
To sit IC-01 you need to have passed your 10th (Matriculation, SSC or equivalent), or to have worked at an insurer for at least three years. There is no graduation requirement and no requirement to already work in insurance.
Registering is a three-step process, done online at insuranceinstituteofindia.com: become a registered member of III (a one-time ₹800 fee that includes life membership), enrol for the IC-01 paper in an enrolment window, then book your exam slot in the slot-booking window. Each step has its own dates.

You Join an Associated Institute, Not Just III
Only life members of III's Associated or Affiliated Institutes can sit its exams. There are 91 Associated Institutes across India; you pick the one nearest where you live or work while registering online, and its life membership fee is already inside your registration fee. There is nothing extra to pay or apply for.
How to Register for IC-01 Online
The order matters: the registration fee gets you a Registration Id, and only then can you enrol for a paper.
- 1
Create a login
On insuranceinstituteofindia.com, sign up as a new user. Note your login id and password; III asks you to keep them for every future exam.
- 2
Fill in your profile
Enter your details and note the Candidate Id the system generates. Use your name exactly as it should appear on mark sheets and certificates.
- 3
Upload photo and signature
Photo 152 x 133 pixels and signature 140 x 152 pixels, both .jpg up to 25 KB. Your photo is printed on your hall ticket and certificate, so use a recent one.
- 4
Pay the registration fee
₹800 plus taxes, once. This makes you a member and issues your Registration Id, which stays valid for all future III exams.
- 5
Enrol for IC-01
In the session's enrolment window, enrol for the paper and pay ₹600 plus taxes. You can add other papers in the same transaction, up to 6 a session.
- 6
Book your slot
In the slot-booking window, choose your exam date, time and centre, and download your hall ticket there and then.
See the question style before you enrol.
Book Your Slot, or the System Books It for You
Slots go first come, first served. If you enrol but do not book within the slot-booking window, III's system auto-books you onto an available date and time. Once a slot is booked, by you or the system, it cannot be changed, and the fee is neither refunded nor carried forward.
Already Registered With III?
If you have sat an III exam before, you already have a Registration Id. Do not register again.
- check_circleCreate a login on the website, then map your existing profile to it using your Registration Id and date of birth (a one-time step).
- check_circleIf mapping fails, email [email protected] with your Registration Id, name, date of birth and the last exam you enrolled for.
- check_circleIf you have more than one Registration Id, write to [email protected] to merge them so your credit points sit in one place.
- check_circleGo straight to enrolling for IC-01; there is no second registration fee.
Registering Through an Associated Institute
Online is the simpler route, but III also accepts an exam entry form submitted, with the fee, at your local Associated Institute. These are the only two channels; forms sent directly to III in Mumbai are not accepted.
If you enrol through an institute, collect the printout of your enrolled papers within three days and check it: III cannot correct an enrolment made at an institute.
Changes You Can Still Make, and When
- checkChange of exam centre: only during the enrolment period, from your login.
- checkChange of subject: only to a subject with the same credit points, only during the enrolment period. IC-01 can be swapped for IC-02, IC-11 or IC-14, for example.
- checkAddress, mobile and email: any time from your login. Keep them current; your hall ticket and result alerts go there.
- checkName or date of birth: only with documentary proof sent to III.
