III IC-11 Study Material: What to Use
One official book, as print, eBook or audio. Here is how to get it and what to read alongside it.
The official IC-11 study material is III's own study course, Practice of General Insurance, Revised Edition 2023. It comes as a printed book (₹450 in English, ₹500 in Hindi), an eBook for ₹150 plus GST, or an audiobook in English or Hindi for ₹100 plus GST.
There are no compulsory classes. The book is the spine of your preparation, and it maps one to one onto the nine chapters of the syllabus. But it is a 2023 text describing a market whose rules IRDAI has since consolidated and rewritten, so it needs a little help.

How to Buy It
- 1
Update your address first
III ships to the correspondence address in your profile when you pay. An address changed afterwards is not used.
- 2
Order from your login
Go to Study Material > Purchase Online for the printed book, or E-book/Audio Book on the same menu. You can also buy through your local Associated Institute.
- 3
Track the dispatch

Print, eBook or Audio?
- check_circlePrint is the only format you keep. Choose it if your preparation will run past 90 days, or if you will come back to it for IC-45 or a specialised diploma later.
- check_circleThe eBook is the cheapest and instant, but expires after 90 days. Buy it only when you are ready to start.
- check_circleThe audiobook suits a second pass on the commute. It is a poor fit for the rating and reserves chapters, which need working through on paper.
- check_circleStudying in Hindi? The book and audiobook both exist in Hindi. Check III's bilingual subject list for your session to see whether the paper itself is offered in Hindi.

The Book Is the Core, Not the Boundary
III's handbook calls its syllabus "indicative and not exhaustive", says questions will not necessarily come from the study courses only, and expects candidates to read other books and magazines and follow developments in the industry.
What Else Helps
The best supplement is the real thing. A standard fire policy wording, a motor package policy schedule and certificate of insurance, a marine cargo certificate with its Institute Cargo Clauses: if you work at an insurer or broker, read the ones on your desk next to the chapter that explains them. If you do not, insurers publish their policy wordings on their websites.
For rules that have changed since 2023, go to IRDAI's own website. Its 2024 regulations on insurance products and on protection of policyholders' interests, with their master circulars, replaced many of the older circulars the book describes. Where the book and IRDAI's current text differ, learn both and know which is current.
Reading Is Not Recall
Finishing the book tells you what you have read, not what you can answer in two hours. After the first full read, switch to questions: they show which product rules you can apply and which you can only recognise.
FAQs
Which is the official book for IC-11?expand_more
III's own study course, Practice of General Insurance, Revised Edition 2023, available in English and Hindi.
What is the price of the IC-11 book?expand_more
₹450 for the English printed book and ₹500 for the Hindi one in India. The eBook is ₹150 plus GST and the audiobook ₹100 plus GST, each for 90 days.
Is the IC-11 book available as a PDF?expand_more
III sells a 90-day eBook subscription, not a PDF download. Files circulating as an "IC-11 PDF" are not issued by III.
Is the IC-11 study material available in Hindi?expand_more
Yes. The printed book and the audiobook are both available in Hindi.
Is the book enough to pass IC-11?expand_more
It is the core, but III says questions are not confined to it, and some of its regulatory detail predates IRDAI's 2024 changes. Pair a full read with timed practice and IRDAI's current rules.
