POSP Syllabus: What the Training and Exam Cover
Four topic areas, and the compliance one fails more candidates than the other three combined.
The POSP syllabus covers four topic areas: insurance basics, point-of-sale products, regulatory and compliance rules, and sales and servicing. The same four areas make up the 15-hour IRDAI-mandated training and the online qualifying exam that follows it; nothing outside the training is tested.
Four areas in 15 hours means none goes deep, but they are not equally weighted in where candidates lose marks. The compliance area, the one that feels most like common sense, is the one sponsors' exams lean on hardest. The full map, area by area.

Where Candidates Actually Lose Marks
Not on products. Motor, travel and personal accident covers are concrete, and the training's product module is the part people naturally pay attention to. The marks leak in two quieter places.
First, compliance. IRDAI's conduct rules, the mis-selling and rebating prohibitions, and KYC/AML basics read like common sense in the training and come back as precise questions in the exam. Second, scope of work: knowing exactly which products a POSP may sell and which need a full IC-38 agent. Both are pure revision material, and both are exactly what question practice exposes before the real exam can.
