SSC GD Eligibility: Who Can Apply
Class 10 pass and an age band that closes at 23. The earliest SSC door, and one of the narrowest age windows.
SSC GD Constable eligibility asks for a Class 10 (matriculation) pass from a recognised board, Indian citizenship, and an age between 18 and 23 years. SC/ST candidates get 5 extra years and OBC candidates 3. It is one of the few central government exams open to 10th-pass candidates, and its age window is among the narrowest SSC runs.
Physical and medical standards are a separate gate, checked at their own stages. This page covers the paper eligibility.

The Narrow Age Band Changes the Maths
A general-category candidate has at most six eligible years, and realistically fewer usable cycles, since GD is not notified on a perfectly annual rhythm. If you are 21 or 22, this cycle is not one to treat as practice. The relaxations widen the window meaningfully: up to 28 for SC/ST and 26 for OBC candidates.

Confirm the Live Notification Before Applying
Age cut-off dates, relaxation rules and force-wise conditions are set in each cycle's official notification on ssc.gov.in. Treat this page as the map and the current notification as the authority.
