SSC GD Physical Test: PET, PST and Medical Standards
The PET eliminates candidates who cleared the written test. The running starts now, not after the result.
SSC GD's physical stage has two parts: the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which is running, and the Physical Standard Test (PST), which is height and chest measurement. A medical examination follows as its own stage. All three eliminate, and the PET in particular removes many candidates who cleared the written test.
The standards below are the figures our SSC data carries. The live notification on ssc.gov.in is the authority for the cycle you are entering.

The Medical Stage Fails Prepared Candidates Too
The medical examination checks vision (6/6 or 6/9 correctable), hearing, flat foot, varicose veins and general fitness. Unlike running speed, some of these cannot be trained away, and discovering a disqualifying condition at the final stage wastes a year of work. The practical move is a preliminary health check early in preparation, so you know what you are working with.
Habits count across the months too: not smoking and holding a healthy weight are the two controllable factors the standard advice keeps returning to.
Physical Preparation From Day One
