How Attempts Work
- 1
Training comes first
You can't sit the exam without completing the mandatory 50 or 100 hours of training.
- 2
Three attempts, nine months
You get up to 3 attempts within 9 months (270 days) of finishing your training.
- 3
Each attempt is a fresh registration
Your training agency registers you again, and the full ₹1,200 fee applies every time.
- 4
Miss both limits and you retrain
Fail three times, or run out of the nine months, and you must redo the training before registering afresh.
Exam-Day Rules Worth Knowing
From IIBF's own Rules & Syllabus document.
- checkCollect your admit letter from your training agency about a week before the exam. Bring a printed copy.
- checkCarry an original photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence, voter ID, passport or employer card). No admit letter and ID, no entry.
- checkA basic battery calculator is allowed: up to 8 functions and 12 digits. Scientific calculators are not.
- checkMobile phones are banned in the hall, even switched off. Merely carrying one counts as unfair means.
- checkYou cannot leave the hall in the first 60 minutes.
Time Is Not the Hard Part
100 questions in 120 minutes is more than a minute per question, and with no negative marking you should answer every one. The pass rate suggests the challenge is knowing the material, especially the legal and regulatory topics, not finishing in time.
